Shred Some Carbon Without Working Up a Sweat

FanSummer got off to a late start in many parts of the US this year. Whether your region is in the dog days of summer or already beginning to cool down for the winter, it pays to find more efficient means of climate control. According to the EPA/DOE Energy Star website, as much as half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Reduce your need for air conditioning by improving insulation and sealing cracks, making strategic use of shade plants and "cool" exterior paints, even upgrading inefficient appliances (which can radiate heat).
